I let the PC handle its update at 5, assuming it had about an hour left. Now it's 5:50, planning to leave in ten minutes, but updates are only at 21%. It seems Microsoft claims this version is quicker.

Choose SSD over HDD for faster performance. A traditional hard drive will be slower, especially with an older computer.

It's an Asus product bought a while back with modest specs. The hard drive is definitely old. I'm not sure if Windows 10 was the original release or if they upgraded it later.

It seems the process didn’t require more than an hour across both laptops using HDDs.

I've noticed some outdated hard drives that would require nearly a full day to apply the latest update.

Remember this if it runs out of time. Avoid making changes early in the morning before you leave. Schedule them at night when you're not working.

I'm planning to keep it running all night. I'll be back in about 20 minutes. It's 6 PM and I'm in the UK.

Internet performance might be affected. During peak times it could slow things down; perhaps you could test later in the evening.
