The Wi-Fi stops working when the receiver is activated...
I tried to broaden the Wi-Fi coverage in my home using several routers. Instead of drilling more holes in the walls, I connected an Ethernet cable from my TV STB to the second router and then back to the TV STB for streaming. I adjusted the LAN settings on the second router successfully, and everything functioned well. However, when I powered on the TV STB connected to the second router, all Wi-Fi disappeared. Turning it off restored the connection. The other devices linked to the second router worked both wired and wirelessly. I noticed the TV box also had issues when powered on. This setup seems to be causing interference. Is there a solution to this problem?
Your TV service relying on Multicast traffic can make Wi-Fi seem non-functional if the data reaches the network. Your router should be blocking Multicast, but sometimes this fails. Check for any Multicast or IGMP snooping configurations on the second router. It's also conceivable that the LAN configuration on that second router prevents IGMP snooping.
The device only offers Filter Multicast; toggling it doesn’t appear to affect the outcome here. Maybe a router supporting multicasting would be better.
