I just installed a watercooled PC and am still unsure about the situation. The CPU temperature is consistently high at around 60°C during idle with Chrome open. I updated the BIOS, applied an XMP profile for RAM, and set the pump to 100% RPM with PWM enabled on the fans. The radiator has two fans from Alphacool, along with a silent pump model DL-CT 2600 and an XP3 light waterblock covering the CPU and radiator. My MSI Afterburner display shows the readings, but I’m not sure what’s causing the issue.
System details:
- GPU: RTX 2080 Super Gigabyte WaterForce
- CPU: Ryzen 7 5800X 3.8 GHz
- RAM: 2x 16GB Corsair Vengeance LPX 3600 MHz
- PSU: Corsair RM750X
- NVMe SSD: WD Black SN850X with heatsink (1TB)
- OS: Windows 10, fully installed
- Case layout: Two fans in front, one back due to space constraints
I also attempted to run cinabench R20, which only achieved 4270 points. From what I see online, my CPU should be around 5700 points, but the GPU is at 30°C while the CPU reaches 80°C. Could you help me figure out what’s wrong?

Have you taken apart the loop and checked each part for any blockages or debris with the water cooling setup? The system uses an Alphacool unit with a new pump model DL-CT 2600, a silent XP3 light waterblock on the CPU and radiator, plus two Alphacool fans. It would be helpful to know the sizes of the radiators and their dimensions so we can better assess the cooling capacity available.
Updated BIOS information is important for context. For relevance, please also share the BIOS version of your motherboard. Regarding the case, I noticed there are two fans—one in front and one behind due to space constraints. Could you provide the make and model of both the fans and the case?
Your CPU temperatures are normal, the 5800X is designed to reach up to 95°C before throttling or slowing down. Right now I can't access my database, but from what I remember, the CB20 score is a bit low. Considering the low temperature, it’s likely you haven’t enabled PBO, regulated voltages, or any other enhancements. Everything is running at its standard Asus MB settings.
Instead of focusing only on benchmark scores, check frequencies under full load—they provide more insight and directly affect performance ratings. Also, use HWinfo64 and Ryzen Master for deeper details than Afterburner.
