I understand the title might be misleading, as I'm not planning to share details about that. I'm more curious if anyone has any insights, since it seems to be overlooked now. I haven't interacted with my version yet because after the intro mission I chose to wait for better optimization. Does anyone know why we have to wait for a release that makes it more enjoyable?

Seems like only the modders should handle this now.

The game has noticeable issues. It's been running for a while, and the AI feels sluggish. There are visual problems like missing floors and invisible walls. You can call a car and it seems to move far away. Some mechanics need fixing. Is this game even mod-friendly? I really wish all games could be as moddable as Skyrim.

No one is certain. Perhaps never, yet you might have tried the fixex fixes—should be able to test it? Lower texture quality and enable windowed borderless settings could help. It might work on your machine, but the game remains poorly optimized and many users face problems. On the other hand, I managed to run it smoothly on my setup (i7 920, R9 280x, 4 GB RAM), suggesting some configurations succeed.

well yes ive tired a few "fixes" but turning quality down till it looks like freakin vice city is not a FIX IMO and all the others ive tired dont seem to work my problem is not even about walls missing or something huge like that its just that every two minutes or so it starts lagging like its loading 1tb of textures or something and thats not even depending on what im doing in the game. i can stand in room turn around all god damn day still it lags periodicly

There are no delays or optimization problems to discuss.

Perhaps it's due to the fact you're using a 290 model and I received a 770 with 2GB? That's just an assumption. Generally, I see users here mentioning no problems, yet I notice some are running at 780 or higher, which could explain the difference.

It seems like there might be some concerns about the updates. The main issue is whether the patches will address the problems and when they'll be available. I also have a 770 with 2GB of storage, it hasn't had many problems, though the game appears to be running slowly and uses a lot of resources.

Even in the most extreme cases, the game remains disappointing...
