The warranty remains valid even if used briefly.
Hello everyone, I’m planning to test PBO and AutoOC on my 3970x using the Aorus Master TRX40. If I don’t notice any real speed gains, I’ll turn it off. I’m curious whether disabling it for just five minutes will void my warranty permanently, or if doing so only affects it if I damage the processor while PBO is active. I’d prefer not to waste time using it for five minutes and then cancel it, especially since I don’t want my warranty to be canceled even after I stop using it.
They don’t have any clue, and usually you need to make a conscious effort to claim you boosted it and used too much voltage at once. In reality, they’ll be certain only if you push the voltage up to around 1.7v into the CPU and turn off all safety features.
The CPU settings in BIOS or software don’t offer any way to challenge your warranty unless you share that data with AMD. Regarding the AutoOC feature in BIOS, if it’s what you’re seeing, it doesn’t engage PBO. It will check the maximum static voltage the CPU can handle during overclocking, but it won’t perform optimally.
Thank you for your prompt reply! I'll give it a chance and turn it off later if needed.
