Hi everyone, I'm working with a W10 21H1 19042.1526 running on a 9400F and 1070ti with 32GB DDR4-3200 RAM. Over the past few weeks, explorer.exe has stopped and restarted unpredictably—sometimes every few days, other times multiple times daily. It seems to happen more often when I move files or browse in Firefox, and it also affects night mode color temperature if it's active. I'm not sure what's causing this, but it's disrupting my workflow, especially when opening several folders at once. The attached event viewer logs from a recent incident might help. Please let me know if you can assist! Thank you!

Did you run a scan with sfc /scannow? Are you noticing delays when using File Explorer? The problems aren't linked to the operating system and weren't detected by the scan tool, which might suggest a hard drive issue.

Hi LD, your response was prompt. After checking all my drives in HD Tune, everything looks fine—no issues reported. But now I notice the "Computer" loading slowly; sometimes it shows a blank screen with a message about Windows working, and other times it takes about three out of five attempts. I think this might be due to offline network drives. Clicking into the needed drive from the left navigation pane should work. Should I worry? Are there other ways to check for potential problems? The system is backed up, but a failure would still disrupt my work.

When network shares aren't accessible, it leads to various complications. In such situations, unmap them and consider using shortcuts instead. Third-party shell extensions can also help troubleshoot; check what's available and disable any unnecessary ones via the provided link.

I didn’t experience this problem after using over two internal drives. It occurred with a single external drive, making it simple to identify and fix the affected one (it needs a secure format when I have time).

Thank you for the update. After disconnecting the network drives and removing unused shell extensions, the problem persists. Could someone please review the Event Viewer logs for potential causes?
