Hi, your current setup is a 5600x on an ASUS Strix B550 with a 3070. You're thinking about upgrading to something like 5900/5950x or another AMD CPU since you're diving into bigger creative projects. Alternatively, you could wait for better prices on the new AM5 chips and build again. You also mentioned planning to get a 4070 or 7900X later. Let me know what you decide!

In your creative project a 5900X delivers twice the power of a 5600X, and reselling the 5600X could save you around $250. Upgrading to a 7900X on an AM5 platform adds another 30% but pushes the cost to over $600 (expensive boards and DDR5 RAM).

yeah if I sell my 5600x, I can get a used 5900x for £150. Just wondering I curently have a Noctua NH-U12S recon that would be ok for a 5900x? I curently have 6 case fans and my temps currently are around 40-45.

Really, that's a bargain price. It should handle the 5900x well without too many issues, especially since it's just a decent single tower and not some extreme reactor setup.

The 5900x would cost around £275, but I’d only pay £150 since I’m trading it in. Thanks for letting me know I can keep the same cooler!

Absolutely, that's great! I increased from 5600X to 5900X, and pushing to over 5100MHz is a big win since I was limited to 4850.
