The USB ports on your motherboard are no longer functioning properly.
I recently accessed my PC as usual only to find the mouse and keyboard malfunctioning. After disassembling and reassembling the build, I discovered the sole functional USB port was red—though I’m not sure why that matters. Soon after, shutdown issues arose; the system completed its shutdown routine but kept power flowing to connected devices like the fans, GPU, and CPU cooler. Overall, most functions still operate, but I’m frustrated by the extra steps needed to use the machine. For more details, I have an Asus ROG Maximus IX Code. I reached out to Asus, but they’re no longer under warranty.
Very simple. Get the Linux Mint ISO file from the link provided. Use Rufus to create a bootable USB. Insert the USB into your computer’s working port, choose the ISO in Rufus, select the USB drive, start the process and wait for it to initialize. Once complete, keep the USB connected while the system boots. Enter the boot options, pick the USB as the source, and it should launch Linux. Test the USB ports to confirm they’re functioning properly.

It seems the motherboard is showing signs of trouble or degradation. This could clarify the issue and explain why USB functionality is behaving oddly. The Linux live environment will quickly identify any Windows-related faults, bypassing complex driver checks, chipset analysis, and log reviews.
