The USB extension plus hub setup isn't functioning properly.
Hello, I recently purchased a few accessories: - a USB-C 3.0 extension cord ( https://www.delock.com/produkte/177...3-...kmale.html) - an USB 3.0 hub (specifically this one: https://www.unitek-products.com/pro...-a...0w-pd-port ) I also have some sample USB devices, such as a microphone and a mouse. The microphone and mouse function properly when plugged directly into the PC. When I connect the hub to the PC and then link the devices to the hub, everything works fine. However, if I connect the hub through the USB-C extension cord and then link the microphone to the hub, it doesn’t work. The microphone lights up but Windows doesn’t recognize it. With the mouse, even its LEDs don’t activate. On the other hand, using a USB flash drive in this way resolves the issue. Unfortunately, I don’t have any USB-C devices available for testing the extender independently. The manufacturer’s description is confusing (it lists 3.1 and 3.2 in the title but doesn’t clearly state supported functions). It mentions a 32 AWG data line and a 24 AWG power line, but that’s not very helpful. The retailer, however, only lists “data transfer” as a feature. Could this mean the extenders are only suitable for data transfer (like USB drives and cameras), and I need something like this? https://www.unitek-products.com/pro...en...ta-pd-100w I’m really disappointed because I always thought the USB standard was universal, except for Thunderbolt. This is what I see when I connect the hub via the extender: And this is what I observe when I link the hub directly to the PC: I’ve seen this discussion here: https://forums. with a similar problem, but the answers seem unrelated to my issue (they focus on USB standards and cable length).
your symptoms seem to be related to an insufficient extension cable.
many generic or cheaper quality extenders and splitters don’t deliver enough bandwidth, power, or they may cause other problems when connecting multiple devices.
you might try returning them and searching for a similar cable with user reviews confirming it works in your situation.
alternatively, you could keep testing different options until you find one that actually functions properly.
why not return both and purchase a hub that includes a suitable length cable?
