I purchased a small USB BT dongle and connected it. To my surprise, it showed up as a Bluetooth device in Device Mangler. However, even more surprising, it didn’t show up as an audio device in the Mixer app on Windows or in any audio app’s sound devices. It doesn’t appear alongside other USB devices but instead forms its own group of several items. Please see the attached file (I hope). I’m unable to get my phone to recognize the BT device for pairing or linking. Sorry, it seems I can’t attach anything. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I’ve searched without much success.

You can upload images from imgur.com. If it's a bluetooth dongle, what connections are you planning to make? For example, an external speaker.

Some external speakers: Bluetooth earbuds. Possibly other devices like a phone for data too. I was aiming for all the things I use BT for on my phone or tablet. Now I want to listen to my PC's audio output from across the room without needing speaker output from the PC itself.

Did you establish a connection between the earbuds and the dongle? When attempting to link, were there any notifications displayed on the screen from Windows?

Thanks again.
No I have not been able to connect the dongle to anything. There are no messages and no controller software on the PC to actually try to set up the dongle as a BT device, with Pair or Connect etc.
It shows as a device but with no access controller that I can see.
Basically there is no software. The drivers are supplied by M$oft and there is no proprietary controller app.

It should appear in the device manager under Bluetooth devices and be turned on.
Navigate to Windows Services and verify that the Bluetooth support service is active. If not, right-click it and select 'Start'.

Navigate to the settings menu and adjust Bluetooth and device options. Proceed to the add devices section and attempt to pair the earbuds there.
