The USB 3.0 expansion card is causing my devices to freeze.
I purchased a 3.0 USB PCI Expansion Card.

The driver lists VIA VL805 and I used the QR code on the card.
I’m trying to link it to my monitor (HP Z24N), using a USB hub that supports 3.0, and a USB 3.0 cable.
The card is detected by the PC and functions properly when connected directly.
However, when I connect the USB 3.0 box cable from the monitor to the card, it causes issues with devices on the hub—some lag or freeze, especially the mouse, and in some cases it doesn’t work at all.
The USB 3.0 box cable itself isn’t the problem because connecting it to a USB 2.0 port works fine and all devices still function.
Additional details:
- Card is powered on
- Board model: Asus P7P55 LX
- Connected devices: Mouse, Wacom Tablet, Headset
I’m unsure what’s causing the problem.
I will mention that some USB-3 cards can be unstable with your system. Once I had one where plugging in my external hard drive cartridge worked perfectly, but losing internet connection, I moved it to another machine and the glitch disappeared. Using a different model resolved the issue in the first computer. So there might be another card that works better.
