I recently enhanced my computer with a new CPU, motherboard, and GPU. My old motherboard lacked a built-in WiFi card, so I used a USB adapter. But the new one doesn’t connect properly—it can’t detect any networks. I’ve tried updating BIOS, reinstalling drivers from MSI and Intel sites, updating Windows, uninstalling and rebooting. Still nothing works, so I’m sticking with the USB adapter. I also included a screenshot of the network devices in Device Manager.
Looking online for direct play and vcredist downloads, I found some that need system drivers or components to install automatically when you set up network device drivers. Direct play is part of Windows OS but only appears when needed, such as connecting your device. Avoid using network interfaces you don’t want—stick to the one you plan to use, which should install its drivers from the motherboard manufacturer’s download page.
I'm not sure about closing this thread, but I've discovered and resolved the problem. It turned out an old VMware registry was still being installed, which was causing Windows to load drivers incorrectly. After removing it, everything worked perfectly.
