Reddit link could be useful. It seems reasonable. Several answers might help. The 8-pin model should work well, providing power for 300 watts. The 4-pin isn't required since it only handles 100 watts. Leaving the 4-pin plugged in is perfectly acceptable.

I noticed that post while searching for possible solutions and believe I’ll attempt to transition to an 8-pin connection rather than just the 4-pin power adapter, since it could provide more power even if it seems limited at first.

After reviewing again, it looks like you were using both 8-pin and 4-pin connectors, with the 4-pin being unused. It seems the troubleshooting steps AMD suggests are complete, and they advise returning the CPU via RMA. You're still awaiting a reply from MSI support, but you suspect there might be a faulty component.

I finally understood the problem. The 5800x3d compatibility update didn’t apply because the front USB port on my PC wasn’t working for flashing the BIOS. However, using the USB ports on the back (directly connected to the motherboard) resolved the issue, and everything functioned normally after the BIOS update.
