Consider upgrading or a fresh setup. If you choose to upgrade, leave the "get updates thing" unchecked.

Install Rufus on your device. Place your USB drive inside. Choose the USB in the software's "Device" section. Pick the GPT Partition option for UEFI systems. Use the Windows ISO image from the small CD icon. Begin the setup process. The drive will get formatted and filled with Windows files. Try booting—success should follow. Remember to select the GPT Partition scheme for UEFI; this is crucial.

I don’t have a machine with UEFI BIOS and I attempted to use Rufus, but an error occurred. Later I tried another tool which worked on my Windows XP system but not on my Windows 7 laptop.
