The update from AMD significantly reduced my system speed.
I just updated the newest AMD Crimson Driver and my GPU speed fell to 30 FPS in Battlefield 4, cutting from over 60 to half. I also went back to ATI Catalyst 15.9.1 BETA and my FPS returned to normal. This issue appeared in both BF4 and Arma 3. I used the latest Display Driver Uninstaller. Details: CPU Intel i5-4570 (3.6GHz), GPU Dual-X R9 270x 2GB, RAM HyperX Blu 4GB/8GB, OS Win8.1.
I also ran MSI Afterburner to monitor my GPU and CPU temperatures, resource consumption, clock rates, and memory activity. My GPU was operating at full capacity, and the clock speeds matched expectations. Note: Additional information and explanations were added afterward.
You're using a 270x setup and haven't faced any problems with the updated Crimson drivers. Everything operates perfectly as before. It could be that the installation wasn't complete or you unintentionally adjusted settings in the new interface.
It was a mistake. My clock speeds failed, yet the clocks remained consistent.
The issue likely stemmed from another factor beyond just clock speeds. I attempted a fresh setup of the Crimson software to rule out that possibility. It’s worth noting you can always revert changes if problems arise.
I tried using the Display Driver Uninstaller first before installing the new driver. Maybe then. I’m just aiming for smooth gameplay at 60 FPS right now. I don’t really understand why it’s not working perfectly.
