I just tried playing Far Cry 4 for the first time in a month and saw my frame rate drop significantly. Previously I was getting around 80-85 fps, now it's about 55 fps. My setup includes a GTX 980, a 4790k, and 16GB of RAM—so hardware isn’t the issue. I checked the GPU load and it was fully locked at 100%. There didn’t seem to be any background programs causing the problem. I also looked for recent patches that might have affected performance. Thanks!

Looks like a standard de-optimization update from Ubisoft.

It seems I've never played a Ubisoft title since my last experience with Black Flag. Apparently, Far Cry 4 continues to face SLI problems, causing texture glitches. The latest co-optional podcast has been discussing this issue.

That's quite concerning, especially with such a high spec. I might need to adjust the graphics settings slightly to improve performance. It seems unrealistic to achieve 55 fps on a 980, though. What resolution are you using?

Review the visual settings? My last session with FC4 showed a slight boost in performance. Previously, MSAA and TXAA were severely affecting frame rates, but SMAA works okay now. Note: i7-4770K, single GTX 980, 8 GB RAM, SSD. Running at 1440p, high settings (a few things ultra), SMAA enabled, capped at 60 FPS.

I didn’t discover the issue, but I learned how to resolve it. I reduced every setting to the lowest and then restored each one individually to match the previous state, which resolved the frame rate problem.

Right now, my third CPU core stays at full speed all the time, while the others rarely exceed 30 FPS, usually around 55-60 before it drops to 75.
