The upcoming Ryzen CPUs in Q3 might need a new motherboard upgrade.
I'm currently running two machines with X570 architecture, one a 3900x and the other a 3600x. My plan was to move the 3900X to the 3600 machine & replace the 3900 with the next gen processor. I have an Aorus X570 Elite mobo (and aside from upgrading to the Pro) has anyone heard anything about the reqs for the next gen? New mobos, backwards compatibility, or anything in that neighborhood?
Yes, the 4000 series remains AM4 and should function with the X570.
The 4000 series will run on AM4, while the following generation requires a different motherboard.
Checking the latest announcements about new or improved motherboard models beyond the X570.
It seems Ryzen consistently introduced updated chipsets and features alongside each CPU release.
