The Ultra settings in RDR2 appear poor quality, with low resolution textures.
Hey everyone,
I'm asking if anyone else has really poor textures. The ground, rocks, and trees look very low resolution. I'm playing poker at my place and the cards are super blurry. I'm using a mix of settings and trying to fix it, but nothing works. If I switch from ultra to low resolution and restart, the game looks exactly the same and my FPS stays the same. I've tried medium and high too, but no improvement.

These are using Ultra textures.
Also, anyone know how to adjust the resolution with the Vulkan GPU API? I can switch to DX12 and change the resolution, then try Vulkan—but that just breaks the game if it's set to 1080p, and it seems impossible to use Vulkan at any other resolution.
Thanks in advance!
Which configuration should I use? I've tested 441.12, 441.20, and now I'm using 441.41 Nvidia drivers, but none of them seem to work. Both GeForce experience and the settings file in documents/rdr2/settings indicate my textures are on Ultra, though I'm skeptical about that.
Ultra settings are too extreme for the game. On my 2080ti, using everything ultra brings my FPS down to the low 30s. Switching to high makes a noticeable difference, and it more than doubles my FPS.
the problem is that all options—low, medium, high, and ultra—appear identical to me, and i think they should all reflect the same appearance as low. It seems like the settings menu is only there for visual purposes, with no real changes.
What's your plan? I'm using a 1920x1080 monitor with an in-game resolution of 2715x1527.
(Yes, this isn't a joke).
I think you might be using TAA on.
For some reason, at FHD and lower TAA settings the screen looks like an oil painting. At 1440p and above it appears much better. Try increasing the in-game resolution — the GPU will downscale it, but with TAA it really helps!
I'm not sure if you're still experiencing that issue, but for me it was the TAA Sharpness. If you turn it up fully, everything becomes blurry and shadows look pixelated. Shift the bar all the way to the left and then press the right arrow exactly 27 times for the ideal setting.
