Hey everyone, I’m trying to figure out what’s going on with my setup. Last year I had an HTPC built with Windows 10, a Ryzen 3700X, an Arc A750, 32GB RAM, a 600W PSU, and a Hisense TV (75U6NQ). I switched to SteamOS for gaming, replacing the old GPU with a used 6700 XT and cleaning the drivers. At first, nothing displayed on the TV, so I thought maybe the HDMI connection wasn’t working properly after installing drivers. I connected the HTPC to my PC monitor via DisplayPort and it worked fine. After installing SteamOS, everything ran smoothly on my regular monitor too. But when I tried to connect the HTPC directly to the TV, there was still no display. I’ve tested different HDMI cables without success. It seems the issue is only with this particular PC-TV pairing. Other devices like my laptop or Chromecast work perfectly with the same ports and cables. When I boot the HTPC and plug in the HDMI cable after a few seconds, the TV shows up and functions normally. What could be causing this problem?

Hey there! It sounds like you're dealing with a tricky setup issue. I saw a similar situation with a friend's PC and an LG C4 OLED display. The problem was that the screen wouldn't show anything until you swapped in another monitor, and even then, resetting everything reset things back to basics. You think it might be related to EDID communication between the GPU and the display? That’s when they try to confirm their specs before connecting.

I tried a workaround by doing a hot-swap and using CRU to adjust settings, but it worked for me. Another option is checking if your TV lets you identify the connected device via HDMI input type. On LG models, this usually doesn’t matter much, though setting the input to 'PC' can help in some cases. Let me know what you try next!

Link your TV and a monitor simultaneously, then navigate to display settings, advanced display options, and experiment with refresh rate or resolution until you notice a change. It’s unlikely you’ll find anything unexpected.

Absolutely, give Brennan Price's method a go first. It's easier, just ensure a complete shutdown and restart with the TV on before wrapping up. Don't recall using it yet.
