It's a bit of a situation. You don't have the game installed and you've lost the disc. That's not good. Steam offers many more tools—trading cards, snapshots, achievements, cloud saves, friends, music, and even free weekend perks. Besides, avoid Watch Dogs; you'll wish you hadn't. Steam really shines with its variety and extra features.
It's just one example. Most games cost the same or less. I strongly advise against buying Watch Dogs. Save for Steam sales—those are the only times I purchase games. Unless you're really passionate about something, I'd pay full price for a new Red Dead game if it were available on PC.
I believe relying on one event to build an argument against Steam is a slight bias. Generally, Steam offers great value for purchasing games. As @Prodigydeadeye mentioned, it's just a single event. Similarly, @ANUPLUCIFERGAMER pointed out that losing a disc means you're in serious trouble. (And I’m still unsure how to say his name.)
Steam stands out as the top choice for simplifying retail. To truly experience the value, shopping during Steam sales is essential. This method effectively highlights discounts, with many items dropping 80-90% even on premium titles. A forum member referenced this approach to signal the beginning of the Steam Summer Sale.
