The Toshiba laptop is not starting from any device.
Recently acquired a Toshiba Portege M780 and discovered it fails to boot from any device. The HDD and SSD both report PXE-E61 media test failure. Checked cable connections and inserted system disks; tried three different drives across Windows 7, Ubuntu, and Windows 10 with UEFI enabled. Installation crashes from CD/DVD or USB, but works on Windows 7 and 10. The flashing indicator appears for several minutes before looping back to startup. Possible causes include RAM—though I recently replaced the original RAM, it still boots correctly in BIOS. It seems the Intel IME might be problematic, possibly requiring a password I don’t know. Should I remove the CMOS battery to test?
A strange BIOS configuration would seem like a likely starting point. Clearing the CMOS could potentially resolve the issue.
