I'd recommend Counter-Strike or Battlefield Bad Company 2.

The 007 Goldeneye on the N64 stands out despite not lasting as long as others. It’s definitely one of my best games. I’d also need to praise Wolfenstein 3D.

I'm not very familiar with FPS games, but I did play a few. The one I liked the most was Planetside 2.

Strictly FPS? If we're considering games that are essentially first-person shooters where you engage in combat, and not just focusing on mechanics, then I'd like to include titles with depth, storytelling, and strong art direction such as Metro, BioShock, later Fallouts, and even Wolfenstein. My top picks so far are Metro Last Light. I'm sure Half Life would rank highly... But I haven't played it yet...

It seems like you're weighing two options, but neither is ideal. My top pick would definitely be a tough decision between Black Ops and Battlefield 3.
