There are valid worries about the electrical load in the bedroom area. The shared circuit with 15 Amps is a concern, especially during summer when we run air conditioners and worry about fire risks. I’m considering relocating my Plex server and NAS to a different room. This decision also ties into my plan to upgrade my TV to 4K, possibly adding an Xbox for enhanced gaming. I aim to connect via Ethernet between rooms and am trying to keep costs manageable. Since the Plex server’s case needs replacement and I’ll need a UPS, I’m seeking advice on quality cabling and affordable tools. I don’t have crimpers or punch-down tools and am thinking about installing wall jacks at both locations. Any thoughts, questions, or concerns?
Here are three clarified questions:
1. Confirm that the connection point for your modem is functioning properly to access the internet.
2. Verify whether Wi-Fi coverage will reach all areas of your home in both locations you’re evaluating.
3. Decide on your cable installation method—whether internal, external, or a mix—and understand any local building code requirements to ensure compliance and avoid issues.
The modem is located in the living room before, and we have two coax connections for this setup. I’m familiar with how my coax is installed. 2) My router is also in the living room, and yes, we receive coverage there. 3) There’s a cable running from the basement to the attic, with coax already installed through that path. I don’t care about building codes—the inspector won’t be there. Since what the city doesn’t see doesn’t bother me, they can just show up without checking. My dad is a machinist, so we have the tools and the ability to arrange the cabling properly. What I’m more concerned about are the current layouts.
Your plan looks solid. Are you sure the equipment is prepared, or would you like suggestions for a switch?
You'll need to explore alternatives since I don't know the available brands in America. During my research, I checked Clipsal cable and found this link: https://www.tle.mmem.com.au/datacomm-cab....html?rl=1
