When I first assembled my PC, I didn’t notice that the motherboard lacked a built-in Wi-Fi module. That meant I had to devise a workaround. At the time I was searching for a ready-made system, I noticed an older Dell Optiplex GX270 model offered a faster CPU clock than a newer Toshiba laptop did (which I used for Minecraft). Realizing the GX270 didn’t come with Wi-Fi, I decided to use a USB adapter. (Unbeknownst to me, it would only run at around 10 frames per second even on basic settings.) When I later discovered my newly built machine lacked Wi-Fi, the USB adapter (from Netgear) became my solution. It functioned well for a long time, but now I’m experiencing increased lag in games like PUBG and occasional instability when connecting to 5GHz networks. I’m considering upgrading to a PCIe Wi-Fi card. However, I’m unsure where to start—Wi-Fi basics are unfamiliar to me. I just need a dual-band option, preferably one that supports the best standard at the lowest price.
