I don’t think it would surprise me much about that CPU. My 3900X handles things on its own and performs well, especially when boosted by temperature. It usually reaches around 4.6ghz on one or two cores without any extra help. I’d guess the 3970X will act similarly. Would you like an update on what that powerful machine is built for?

The usual boost works well. I was expecting higher performance metrics in CineBench, but it meets expectations. The primary purpose is Microsoft Word, and I need it to launch more quickly—just a few milliseconds faster. While programming and compiling can be slow, this tool makes everything instant.
It's better to keep it stock for the stronger single-core gains. Pushing it overclocked means sacrificing about 5% single-core speed for a similar 5% boost in multi-core performance.
