I just changed my 12700K from a DDR4 Asus Tuf board to a DDR5 Asus Prime Z690-A and installed 6000MHz RAM. Everything looks similar—same cooler, case, layout, etc. On the Tuf Z690 WiFi D4, during OCCT tests, temperatures reached high 70s and stayed in the mid to high 60s. With the Prime Z690-A, temps have already hit 88°C and are consistently in the high 70s with spikes into the low 80s. Both boards share the same design, VRMs, BIOS, and settings. They both have 5GHz static all-core OC and the same CPU model. I’m curious if DDR5 at higher speeds causes these CPUs to overheat more—especially with the Gear 2 memory controller running at 1500MHz compared to 1800MHz in DDR4. Would lower speeds help? Any insights? I also had a similar setup before and noticed the difference.

Downloading AIDA 64 and running a stress test both with and without memory pressure. I don’t believe there should be a temporary difference, though I’m not sure.
