So I’m hoping this is the right place to share my experience. I just switched to Windows 11 this morning and have been dealing with a problem that’s really bothering me. I’m struggling to find the appropriate help on Google, and I was wondering if someone here has any suggestions I could try?

(Apologies in advance—I’m finding it hard to explain clearly)
For instance, if I’m playing a game and someone sends me a message through Discord...whether it’s in my Firefox browser or the desktop app, if I hover over either of those icons to open the preview, and then check it, there’s no change. It looks exactly the same as when I last left it. (For example, if someone is typing, the ... stops moving in the preview.) I actually have to click into the window to see what’s happening. And sometimes, when I play certain games, clicking outside their window makes things behave strangely. I really wish I could see a live preview without having to leave the window I’m using... (I had it in Windows 10!)

It also happens with videos on YouTube in Firefox. If I’m in another window and listen to something, hovering over the taskbar preview causes the video to freeze at the frame it was on when I left.

I have a favorite virtual pet game where little creatures move around in their game window...but this live preview seems to work if I move away and check it? I see them moving in real time, which is what it should be.

If I have my Discord window directly behind the one I’m using (no space between them) and the main window isn’t maximized, then the live preview also works. But this isn’t perfect for some games because I accidentally click outside their window.

I’m really puzzled about why most of this isn’t functioning properly, but it seems to work for some and not others. I don’t know if anyone knows how to fix it or what to do...

I had it in Windows 10! Did you upgrade using the internal path available in Windows 10? If so, you should recreate your bootable USB installer for Windows 11, format it, and reinstall the OS offline. Make sure to install all required drivers with the latest versions during this process, using an elevated command—Right click the installer > Run as Administrator.
