Your input language isn't appearing in the taskbar on Windows 8/1. A picture was sent as an attachment to clarify the issue. Please let me know.

It often vanishes when other programs are active. When using mIRC, the keyboard icon appears on the taskbar, but it might vanish if another app runs. Opening WordPad or Notepad doesn’t seem to affect it.

Ensure the relevant entry remains visible on the list. On the Win7 list, all icons previously present are displayed. Visit the control panel and adjust Time & Language settings. Look for a checkbox to enable the language bar; it may have been hidden before.

The control panel fails when you press "change input methods." The reason isn’t clear to me.

Check if there are any other crashes. Restore the system if needed (affects only installed apps and updates) or run a diagnostic scan.

Attempting a system restore should help bring everything back to the right language setting.
