My father is experiencing an issue with his Logitech MX Verticle mouse. The problem seems to have been ongoing for some time, though the exact duration is unclear. When connecting for the first time—either during boot or whenever the mouse is plugged in—the task bar becomes unresponsive until the Task Manager is opened, after which Windows appears to function normally again.

I've tested the mouse on my system and it causes the task bar to become unresponsive. I also tried it on his older Logitech model, which works without issues.

Is there a connection problem with the mouse? While the taskbar is unresponsive, right-clicking the desktop might help. A refund or replacement may be difficult since he no longer has the invoice for the device.

Place the wireless USB receiver near the mouse as closely as possible. If it's too far, the signal will be weak and unstable. You might need a USB hub or extender. Also, ensure the mouse battery is charged. You can use the provided charging cable.

Have you experimented with replacing the batteries in the mouse?

No way of doing that. The batteries are not duracells and are internal lithium

Consider starting the computer with the mouse disabled, then after loading Windows, turn the mouse back on to see if it resolves the issue.

It appears that switching the mouse on and off repeatedly resolves the problem. When starting Windows with the mouse active, the issue is avoided and the taskbar remains responsive. I think this situation has been fixed temporarily.
