After using CU, your PC enters sleep mode but faces problems when you wake it up—screen stays black and shows a 'no signal' alert before restarting. Possible causes include hardware issues or driver conflicts. Check for power management settings, test with another device, and ensure drivers are up to date.

I had to handle that with AU, and I did it 2-3 times on Windows 10 before the AU. I don’t want to reinstall Windows 10 each time Microsoft releases another update.

It involves both the CU and Nvidia drivers. I'm actually running my RX 460 since my 980ti isn't working well anymore due to the updates.

Have you attempted reverting to an earlier Windows release and turning off automatic updates? (Not advised, but it could resolve the problem)

I made a huge error by removing the Windows.old directory when I thought it would free up space. That was the worst decision this year so far.

You could restore Windows by reinstalling from an .ISO file or, if you're using an older .IMG, you might be able to reinstall from that as well... but I assume you didn’t have a recent version available then.

I don't own any pre-CU .iso files or images myself. I could obtain one from work because I use our IT department's enterprise tools. I'm not overly concerned since I was considering getting Vega to make the most of my FreeSync monitor.

I managed to get a Windows 10 Pro 64-bit ISO from the Microsoft site roughly eight to nine months after the release. My system version was earlier than the Creators update and even before the Anniversary fix. After hearing all the rumors about Microsoft monitoring users and constantly changing the OS, I turned off the Windows Update option in the services menu. It’s a security concern, which is why I advise against it when others ask if it could help them but they don’t want forced updates. Plus, when an update was missed, everything changed completely. I couldn’t locate the Control Panel, My Computer, or Network Connections. So I decided to gamble on security rather than risk having Microsoft modify my machine without consent. Vega is the next graphics card lineup, isn’t it? I’ve been using my R9 290X for a few years now. Since the 580 didn’t offer much beyond what the 290X provided, I’m holding off until something better arrives. I’m really hoping Vega will deliver. If it doesn’t impress me, I’ll upgrade to a pair of Fury Xs.

I'm more worried about exploits and zero days than about MS's telemetry data. There are tools that prevent telemetry from being sent, but when they gather it, it helps them learn how the operating system manages various hardware setups. The high-end Vega is expected to match the 1080ti and Titan Xp in performance. The 580 model is essentially a rebranded 480 with a slightly better production method.
