Hey everyone, so my friend recently assembled a PC (here are the specs). Whenever we attempt to launch games like COD Warzone, Rust, or the new COD campaign, his system crashes and restarts instantly on click. I wasn’t sure what was behind it—his machine passed overnight Memtest86, ran Windows 95 for six hours, and also tested with FurMark for six hours. It still handles Apex Legends fine, which made me think it might be a power supply issue, but I’m not sure. I need to get home in about 45 minutes, so if I don’t reply soon, I’ll try again later. The components are: AMD Ryzen 9 5950X, Corsair H1165i RGB Platinum AIO cooler, EVGA SuperNOVA 850 Ga PSU, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080Ti, Trident Z 16GB RAM, SAMSUNG EVO drives, ASRock X570 motherboard.

I mean it might be crazy but the transients might be worse in some software than others depending on the load it is imposing on your GPU. Here is a crazy idea, try capping your frame rates with the Geforce control panel to something very reasonable for your setup, like 60 Hz, and see what that does to the stability in those games. I can better point you to where to do that if you are unfamiliar with this process.
That sounds reasonable then. My thought is it might be related to an Antycheat tool that begins with game files. You could test disabling the XMP profile on RAM, checking the DDU GPU drivers, and reinstalling Windows. Also, updating your BIOS to the newest version or using a BIOS like AMD AGESA V2 1.2.0.7 if you're on Windows 11 would be helpful.
