I have a peculiar problem. Recently, I attempted to install a riser for my 3080FE after updating my BIOS to PCIE 3.0 on my x570 motherboard. Despite several adjustments—checking all PSU connections, moving the GPU, removing it, testing different cables—I still couldn’t get the system to POST. Initially, I performed all possible checks: verified power connections, relocated the GPU, reset the case, tried single RAM, used separate power outlets, and even tested the PSU with a paperclip. After switching the PSU off, reinserting it into the motherboard and pressing the start button, the system finally booted. So far, I suspect the motherboard might be faulty. I’ve already purchased another PSU, but the issue persists. Now, whenever I power on after a shutdown, I have to manually jump the 4th and 5th pins on the 24-pin connector with a paperclip before proceeding. All other components—fans, LEDs, benchmarking—appear normal. The only exception is that every shutdown requires this pin-jumping step. My specs are: Ryzen 5600X, 32GB Gskill TridentZ 3080FE, Asus TUF X570, Wi-Fi motherboard, Asus Rog Strix 750W PSU, and an Antec HCG 850W PSU (bought today). I’ve tried both PSUs and the same results. It seems I need to physically reset the pins to get a stable start. Is this pointing toward a hardware problem?
It seems the power connectors might be loose. If the paperclip technique succeeded, simply build a connection between the power switch and the PSU cable directly. The process remains identical.
