Hardware details: CPU AMD Ryzen 7 3700x, GPU 2070, motherboard ASROCK X470 Master SLI/AC, 16GB DDR4 1500Mhz RAM, 700W power supply. Issue description: While playing games like CS2, Mafia Definitive Edition or Palworld, the screen goes black and fans spin at full speed. I can still chat in Discord until eventually shutting down the PC. Stress tests show problems only during Power Configuration tests, not while browsing or gaming (Minecraft, Skyrim, Rainbow Six Siege). I've updated BIOS, drivers, fixed corrupted files, checked cables, set GPU voltage limits, but the problem continues. Seeking advice before replacing the PSU.
Corrupted Windows files often require a fresh installation. Reviewing your PCIe configurations in the BIOS may help. If applicable, adjusting the BIOS settings for your graphics card can also be beneficial.
These problems began only a few months ago. I've never experienced this issue before; it's been a problem for the past five years on this computer.
Sure, I'm here to help! Please let me know how you'd like to proceed.
It seems like your GPU might be the problem, possibly due to a faulty PSU. Try reseating the power supply, reconnecting the cables, and removing any dust. If the issue persists, a driver update or a full Windows reinstall could help. In my case, the same problem was linked to my PSU/PCIe connection.
