I've been using Icarus for some time, but the latest patch recently led to many FPS problems. It seems like others aren't experiencing the same issues online, possibly due to my graphics card. The attached screenshot shows only 38fps now—up from 25fps before the patch. Looking at the specs, it appears the GPU is being used at half capacity. Before today's update it was around 30%. Is there a way to make the game utilize more of the GPU? My machine consistently hits 60+fps with other titles, yet here I'm stuck at low performance and reduced usage. I've checked the lowest settings and still see poor frame rates and even lower GPU utilization. What options exist to boost performance?

There is nothing you can do about it,the code of the game is bad and there is no way for you to fix this. Complain to the devs of the game.

Check enabling DSR in Nvidia drivers, rendering at higher resolution then downscaling should boost GPU usage (consider 1.45 or 1.75x). Whether this improves FPS depends on adjusting game settings and finding a balance. It might not work or could even hurt if the game is poorly optimized or CPU-heavy, but it's a free option to test.

We figured it out. Our structure featured roughly 200 glass panels, but the game didn’t adjust well for handling many of them at once.

I attempted this and it gradually reduced GPU usage, reaching as low as 10% during the game. It seems the game is poorly optimized for GPU performance, possibly designed only for a specific graphics card and not tested on others. I still enjoy the game, so I’ll have to accept 10–20 frames per second if we plan to build a large structure.

I attempted to use the Discord but they directed me to the bug tracker at icarus.featureupvote.com, which currently has 210 open issues. It doesn’t seem worthwhile.

It's worth giving it a shot—it might take some time, but they're actively working on fixing the bugs and problems. Performance issues are listed here: https://icarus.featureupvote.com/?tag=Performance One specific case involving FPS drops is marked as a known problem.

While reviewing your Link, someone pointed out that the Nvidia driver isn't compatible with Icarus in the latest release. I attempted to revert to driver version 496.49, which resolved the issue and allowed full GPU utilization at 150fps. I've also turned off automatic updates now.
