I have a Logitech Z906 5.1 surround setup and my PC frequently shuts it down during idle periods. This is frustrating since I need to restart it manually, otherwise I lose all audio. I think the issue might be related to Windows settings or BIOS—because it doesn’t happen when using a PS3 or PS4. It stays on until I turn it off, just as expected. The surround system also remains active even when disconnected from any device, which suggests the connected unit is powered down. I’m strongly suspecting a Windows configuration problem. I’ve tried various audio drivers and updated software, but nothing resolves the problem. Anyone have an idea about which settings could be causing this? It might be an energy-saving feature I didn’t notice. PS: the connection uses an optical cable, but it also works with analog cables.

The device cannot transmit data through analog or optical audio cables, meaning it must operate directly within the system.

I thought the same thing too, but why does it only work when plugged into my PC? It seems like there must be a specific setting for that. The Logitech manual doesn’t mention any “auto shut off” or energy-saving option either.

I think there might be an issue with the Z906, and certain sound files it picks up occasionally cause it to crash. My Logitech audio setup also has some problems and quirks.

It's feasible, though it remains somewhat tied to Windows. The issue might stem from the system processing audio even when idle, which feels unusual.
