The system frequently stops working during gameplay?
Hello,
I began a previous discussion about this issue and it has come up again.
PC Specifications
Motherboard: ROG Strix B650E-F
CPU: Ryzen 7900X
GPU: 4070
RAM: 32GB 5200mhz
PSU: Corsair 850g
Physical Drives
1tb wd black sn850 (OS)
1tb sn770 (storage)
1tb wavlink 880t (storage)
I’m experiencing a problem where after weeks or months it crashes repeatedly during gaming, sometimes just once.
I previously had a 980 pro with 2tb, which I had to replace twice. Then a 990 pro, but even after constant issues and multiple Windows updates, it would crash without opening the OS.
Now, after a month of stability on the sn850, it crashes every time I play games.
I’ve removed the OS, uninstalled software, used DDU, and reinstalled the latest NVIDIA drivers.
I can’t access crash logs because the system fails to log them, showing only an error message in Event Viewer.
I’m struggling and have been dealing with this since February, almost at the point of losing the whole PC.
I don’t understand why three different high-end drives failed while a cheaper WAVlink Gen 4 worked for two years without issues.
Please help me.
I’ve tried about six fresh Windows 11 installs on three different Gen 4 drives and four different NVIDIA drivers since the 5000 series problem.
This situation becomes even more confusing,
the spare GPU is the A770, but it fails to start any game.
With three NVMe drives and two GPUs all updated with fresh drivers,
could the motherboard be the issue?
Final update with a positive ending.
It was the Asia horse cable extensions.
I received the 990 pro, everything works perfectly, stress tested (cinebenchr24, occt).
I finally feel at peace. Thank you to everyone who shared suggestions and supported me—your help made a big difference.
I gained valuable insights along the way.
My RAM speed was too high for my CPU (5200mhz max), DDR4 was limited by the motherboard, but DDR5 is CPU-based now—I wasn’t aware of that.
Now my system runs smoothly and feels great. I’m proud to be part of a community that openly helps others.
