Last night I planned to replace my old 16GB DDR4 2400MHz RAM with two 8GB DDR4 3000MHz units. However, after swapping the RAMs, the PC wouldn't boot. I put them in slots A2 and B2. Then I tried using a single 8GB RAM in each slot, and everything worked perfectly. I inspected the RAM slots and carefully installed the dual RAMs, but it still didn’t help me get online. Also, these dual RAMs functioned well on another PC. What could be the issue? Might it be related to voltage problems? Please help! RAM is controlled by your CPU (not listed) and supplied by your PSU (not listed). The only factor that doesn't influence this is the GPU. It might be due to incompatibility with your motherboard, not all brands support every manufacturer, and you haven’t provided serial numbers. What benefits do A1 & B1 offer? Just a question. For testing purposes, I’d install one of the new RAM sticks in A1, open BIOS, adjust XMP speed to 3000mhz, set CL/CAS and timings to Auto, then restart and power on. After a few minutes, try to identify the RAM timings by monitoring.
Thank you for your response... the unlisted details are an i7-7700 at 3.6GHz, a Corsair CV650W bronze PSU, and the old specs include 16GB DDR4 at 2500MHz with only one RAM slot in four slots.
Upgrade the BIOS and reset the CMOS, this should resolve the issue. If that doesn’t work, try repositioning the CPU.
2500mhz weird and suspicious, never heard of Vaseky brand. Is this a typo on the speed ? Ram is usually set to 2133, 2333, 2400, 2666. Did you have a RAM badly OC-ed and did not reset CMOS ? According to Intel, your CPU can run max. 2400mhz RAM, regardless of your motherboard capabilities. You stand to gain 5% better overall performance if you go from 2400mhz to 3600mhz, but even your new ram is not rated for that & CPU won't like it. +50% RAM speed gain = +5% System Performace - watch Linus own video on that. I was able to confirm that number on my system. RMA the RAM and get 2x16gb at 2400mhz and be happy.
Consider replacing the RAM and CPU, and opt for faster RAM speeds.
