The system fails to display the full amount of RAM available.
Hey there, hope everything is okay. I’m just trying to figure out my old PC. It’s running Windows 11, but I see only 8 GB RAM in Task Manager instead of the full 16 GB. The specs say it has an AMD FX 8120 processor with 8 cores and 16 GB total RAM, but only 8 GB are visible. There are three HDD drives and one SSD, but I don’t see the HDDs listed. What should I do to fix this? Any tips or explanations would be super helpful! Thanks a lot!
Your BIOS displays the information about the system, including whether it shows the full 16GB RAM and all connected drives.
I’m not sure how to look at the BIOS settings or see your RAM and drivers. Can you walk me through what you’re trying to do?
Open your BIOS settings. The main display will display the total RAM capacity. Next, you'll see information about the HDDs available.
Here’s a clearer version of your notes:
My HDDs weren’t connected to the power supply cables, which made them hard to see. Regarding my RAM, it seems unusual—there are four sticks listed as showing 2GB each instead of four. I’m not sure how this happened or why. The label says 4GB and 4 sticks, but that doesn’t match what I see.
Sure, I got the details mixed up. It makes sense they’re designed for 4GB storage, so the capacity should be 4GB × 2 instead of 4GB × 4. Appreciate the clarification!
