Hi all! I've now experienced multiple game crashes in Valheim and 2 BSOD in the past couple of days of using my computer. As far as I'm able to determine, it seems to be a CPU error, though I'd be happy to know if there are any other ideas/solutions to explore please.
Two points that direct me to CPU failure:
BSOD crash with WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR
Valheim (Unity Engine) crash with ERROR: SymGetSymFromAddr64, GetLastError: 'Attempt to access invalid address.' which is a general error but could be because of hardware failure.
My PC is relatively stable otherwise, hours of other use has not caused any issues, however the Event Viewer does log several WEA-Logger 19 errors per day:

For context, I'm running a relatively old system at stock motherboard settings that I bought back in October 2019. Only the RAM has been replaced since, and that was at the start of 2025 with almost exactly the same, except 32GB new:

HWMonitor also shows the CPU within very normal levels during gameplay, 45-78 degrees C, 33-70% utilisation.
I'm still running Windows 10, with the extended security updates installed, latest GPU drivers etc. Haven't done a reinstall of windows in a while, but not sure what would cause this, so wanna iron it out before I replace hardware or do a full reinstall. Any advice/direction would be greatly appreciated!

Run "dism" and "sfc /scannow" to locate and repair any faulty or corrupted Windows files that could be causing the issue.
It's confirmed that the Power Supply is a Fractal Design model, certified for 760W with Platinum 80 Plus standards. It was purchased new on April 13, 2021. The guide about its reliability history has greatly improved usability, and I'm noticing better crash details now. Is valheim.exe the game Valheim?
What version and source are we looking at?
Have there been any recent updates since the last play?
The game might have bugs or be corrupted.
It might be a good idea to reinstall Valheim.
There seems to be a software issue that would be ideal to address, not hardware replacement at the moment. Regarding the software, I suspect the problem might lie with the BIOS. My BIOS is very old—Build Date 08/08/2019—and it hasn’t been updated. I’ve installed the latest version from MSI’s site using M-FLASH, and the PC feels more stable now. However, time will tell.
I initially thought the issue was with valheim.exe, but the BSOD and WHEA errors suggest a hardware connection might be involved. I’ll keep monitoring, but it looks like the BIOS update could have caused the WHEA errors, and you’re correct the game itself has bugs.
