I've been using this PC for under six months now. After switching the GPU from a vertical mount to being on the motherboard, it started crashing whenever I tried anything—gaming, streaming, writing this article. It keeps throwing BSoD error messages like IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL or driver-related codes. All my drivers are updated via Device Manager to GeForce, but sometimes when I power on the system it displays a code such as 0x0000001 and says Windows didn't load properly. I get options then, but I just keep going and it loads.
I own a CPU i9-12900k, GPU RTX 3090 White Edition, SSD Samsung 980 Pro 1TB, RAM 16x2 Dominator Platinum at 5600MHz, motherboard ASUS Z690, power supply 1200W from ASUS 1200W Thor.
If it functions without the riser cable, you probably understand the issue clearly. Riser cables are essentially a workaround. The PCI-E standard wasn’t meant for this purpose. You should use them only when truly needed and ensure they’re of good quality. Nowadays they’re so widespread that many assume they’re a typical component in PC construction. Often these cables are included with inexpensive cases, leaving users puzzled about why their setup fails.
I didn't modify anything else. Just added it and began receiving BSoD alerts as if it were oxygen. Alright, I'll proceed.
