Hello
I am assembling a new PC for a friend using these components:
GPU: PowerColor Reaper Radeon RX 9060 XT 16GB
CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5800XT
Motherboard: Gigabyte Aorus B550m Elite rev 1.3
RAM: Corsair DDR4 3200Mhz PRO [2 x 16GB]
PSU: Antec CSK 550 550W
It didn’t boot with the Ryzen 7 5800XT, but my Ryzen 5 2600X works fine. I updated the BIOS to the latest version of rev 1.3, yet the GPU still won’t boot and doesn’t send a monitor signal. Could this mean the CPU is faulty? I didn’t adjust the CPU pins and followed the placement arrow on the motherboard.
Or is my PSU not providing enough power? Should I upgrade to 650W because someone suggested it, but my GPU only needs 500W?

The GPU usually sets the PSU wattage requirement. It demands a base power of at least 500W and needs an 8-pin connection for the GPU. You're reaching the maximum capacity of the power supply you have. A higher one, like 650W, would provide extra flexibility.

Consider a well-built 650~750W unit. Where are you based? What is your budget like and which store do you prefer for buying?

I don’t see BIOS version 1.3 listed in the support section of your board. Please mention the BIOS version you installed.
Could it be that the new CPU is defective?
Place the processor on another known working motherboard with the correct BIOS version and check if it behaves similarly to your setup. If it does, the issue might be with the original unit.

I think VRM might not provide sufficient power for the 5800XT. Are you sure about the MB's capability? I need confirmation if it has enough power or if there are other options. Also, could you verify if the CPU is functioning elsewhere before proceeding?

Was die CMOS nach dem BIOS-Update bereinigt? Falls nicht, sollten Sie das tun. Danach erneut testen.

Yes, I understand. That's not my focus. If the original poster has changed their bios at any point and hasn't cleared the CMOS afterward, the update might fail, possibly leading to CPU problems. Clearing the CMOS ensures the bios loads properly. No residual microcode from an earlier bios. Retest if needed.
