Hello everyone,
I’m planning to replace my old nVidia GeForce GTX 1650 with the Geforce RTX 3050. Right now I’m using an Antec VP500W power supply, but I’m unsure if it can handle the new GPU without any problems.

PC specifications:
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5500
GPU: nVidia RTX 3050 8Gb GDDR6
RAM: 2 x 16Gb DDR4
SSD: 1 x M2 SATA 512Gb + 1 x SATA 500Gb
HDD: 1 x 5Tb SATA 7200rpm + 1 x 4Tb SATA 7200rpm
USB: 5 x 2.0 + 3.0 USB devices
Fans: 5 x 14cm case fans
PSU: Antec VP500P Plus 500W

I’ve looked at several online PSU calculators and got different recommendations:
- https://pc-builds.com : 314W
- https://pcpartpicker.com : 369W
- https://outervision.com : 351W
- https://www.enermax.com : 308W
- https://www.whatpsu.com : 450W (minimum)

What bothers me is that when I bought the RTX 3050, the recommendation was a minimum of 550W, but no clear reason was given.
My budget is tight, so I’m hoping I won’t need to purchase another 550W PSU if it’s not essential.
The system runs 3D and Unreal game engines, but I won’t be overclocking, aiming to extend its lifespan without extra costs.

Your suggestions mean a lot. Thank you in advance.

Just in case you secure the funds for a fresh PSU to swap this mediocre Antec VP500P Plus, will a 500W unit suffice for the RTX 3050 given these PC specifications? Your guidance is greatly valued, thank you once more.

I'm operating with an Antec VP500W at the moment.
The PSU in your system is quite recent.
You've recently added the RTX 3050 graphics card.
Could you share the purchase details for that GPU?

The Antec VP500P Plus PSU is around 3-4 years old and has performed well with those specifications, particularly with GTX 750 and GTX 1650 cards.
The RTX 3050:
MSI GeForce RTX 3050 8GB GDDR6 - AERO ITX OC - Enterkomputer - Toko Komputer, Rakit PC, Laptop, Termurah & Terlengkap
EnterKomputer menjual kebutuhan elektronik seperti Notebook, Komputer, PC Rakitan, Processor, VGA, RAM termurah dan terlengkap di Mall Mangga Dua Jakarta
www.enterkomputer.com
but I received the "no OC" model.

Antec VP-Plus is a questionable group-owned PSU. I don't suggest using it in systems with a dedicated GPU.

Sure, here are some PSU options in the 500-550W range for your replacement.

Depends on what's available in your country. Here is a link to a popular webshop for PSUs in your region:

Enterkomputer for buying computers, laptops, PCs, power supplies and accessories online at Mall Mangga Dua Jakarta

As discussed earlier, I am currently constrained by a limited budget and will have to wait until my budget allows for a new PSU, if necessary;
My current PSU isn't the best but has performed well with GTX 750 and GTX 1650 cards without any problems. I’m not very familiar with PSUs, could you clarify what would happen to my PC (and the new RTX 3050) if I continue using the existing Antec VP500P Plus PSU? Would it cause any damage?
