It's been a while since I played CK2. Right now, the main challenge is understanding succession laws that grant titles regardless of potential successors. I've progressed from Gravelkind to Primogeniture rules, but the tooltips and wiki say "Primogeniture is a succession law where the eldest son (or daughter, under certain conditions) inherits all titles." I'm confused because after my character's death, my brother and kinsman lost titles, but now they gained some. Can someone clarify this situation?

Are there several duchies, kingdoms, or empires in existence? If yes, all regulations must be set to primogeniture.

Yeah, i own ireland, half of scotland, wales, and parts of northen france and it was only titles outside ireland which i lost after my character died, but how do i change the succesion laws in other kingdoms? From what ive seen online you can either change your primary title to a dutchy within that kingdom, or hope that the vassals change the succession laws to the one you want. Thanks for the answer though, i would have never figured it out on my own

I just tried it in a short game. When you become King or Emperor, the only titles where you can alter succession laws are Kingdom and Empire levels. Typically all titles below those should adjust too, which might explain the issue since the Kingdom of Ireland isn't recognized as a de jure liege over other areas. You could wait for them to gain de jure status (which takes a long time), create Kingdom-level titles (should be possible), or modify the save file.

To alter the succession rules, you must be the King of Scotland. In your situation, it seems they held gavelkind, so your brother inherited titles in writing within Scotland. With two kingdom titles, the laws should reflect an additional flag for that designation. If you establish a kingdom independently, your main title laws will update automatically.

Creating these northern frontiers in France and Scotland will require several generations, while Scotland will need more time. I think I’ll have to rely on other allies instead of the Dutch, but at least I’ll keep you updated until then. Thanks!

@Centurius @Thozi Resolved it by updating my main title to every kingdom I controlled, then adjusting the succession rules myself. It functioned, though the vassals were quite upset. Sadly, I couldn’t save North Scotland since I don’t own 51% of it. Thanks for your support!
