Good morning everyone, I’m working with a micro ATX setup featuring a 3600 processor, a 2060 super, and a Q300L cooler case. I have three Noctua 120mm fans at 1500 RPM and a Gigabyte DS3H motherboard. The CPU is overheating a lot—temperatures often climb into the 90s during gameplay, especially when playing Fallout 76. My GPU stays under 60°C, but I’m seeing issues with the stock cooler. Anyone else experiencing this problem on the 3600 with the stock cooler? I’m considering getting a Noctua slim cooler for the CPU to avoid any damage.
I used the 3700X cooler on my 3600 and it didn’t perform very well. The CPU will automatically manage power usage, which keeps it safe but also restricts performance and increases noise compared to a better cooler. You’ll miss out on full potential, and it won’t run as smoothly. Whether it’s worth it is up to you.
@Poptartaddict87 that's unusual as most people report 70s under load with the stock cooler. Have you updated your BIOS/chipset drivers? Is the cooler properly mounted? Are you using a performance or silent profile? Is PBO enabled?
I'm focusing mainly since most Gigabyte boards face serious overvoltage problems with older BIOS versions—updating the BIOS could be the solution if you haven't already.
