When I begin a download on my Steam Deck, it progresses quickly at first—reaching speeds around 30 Mbps—and then slows down after about 10 to 20 seconds before stopping completely. The disk space usage also decreases alongside the download. This behavior has been consistent since I purchased the device. On my computer, games finish in minutes, but here it takes an hour. With my 1000 Mbps fiber connection, I expect much better performance.

I'm not sure fiber connects to your Steam Deck. It took me a day and a half to download BL3. It works on Wi-Fi, though—it's old Wi-Fi. If you were holding it and stepped outside the signal range, I could definitely spot it doing that.

I positioned the steam deck adjacent to the router, capturing the image while the device rested on a flat surface. I’m puzzled as to why the download isn’t stable.

It might be steam, your ISP, the router, or even the steam deck itself. A nearby window air conditioner could also be the culprit if one is present. That sliding drop aligns with a quick loss of connection, though it doesn’t fully reset because some parts are still processing data. This behavior resembles a sudden drop in signal followed by failure. If EMI was involved, it would point to the device generating interference rather than the steam deck causing it.
