The static problems on both computers are extremely severe.
Hey everyone, I’ve rebuilt both my simulation rig and my main PC using AM5 7950X and 7950X3D chips, both equipped with 4090s. One was an Intel 12900K system, the other a 5800X3D. I kept the same power supplies (one 1200W Corsair, another 1000W EVGA, both platinum) and used identical cases, screens, and peripherals—just new motherboards, RAM, and graphics cards. The problem since switching is persistent static electricity issues. Just touching the wooden table where my mouse sits can cause USB devices to disconnect and reconnect repeatedly. Both systems behave the same way: I can move around, pick up my phone on the desk, and hear the USB disconnect sounds and then reconnect, again and again. It’s really frustrating. My wife’s PC is a 12900K with a 4090 and has never had this issue before—until I changed components. I’ve been building PCs since the late ’90s, worked in IT for years, so I’m not new to hardware and haven’t faced anything like this. Any suggestions on how to identify or fix this problem? I also use separate UPS units for each PC—one APC, one CyberPower SineWave.
