The startup process is taking a long time.
Hello, I recently installed my new computer and am facing issues with launching This PC in Windows 11. It takes a long time—often several seconds—before it finally opens, even after double-clicking or pressing enter. Sometimes it works, but most of the time it’s very slow. I’ve tried removing OneDrive and there are no network drives connected, even when just the T700 drive was present. I’ve checked the drive multiple times for errors and confirmed its specs are correct: Z790 Dark Hero, 14900k, G.Skill Ripjaws S5 DDR5 96GB, 6800MHz (2x48GB), Crucial T700 4TB, HX1500i power supply, and Asus TUF RTX 4080 Super OC. Thank you.
My latest bios are ready, all drivers and firmware are current across every device.
Attempt to secure 11 glitches, set up Windows 10 and observe results.
yeah ok, wait....so what's in it now? also this will not help you (much) im aware but this happens when you buy the newest new fangled thingies... there are often issues with this stuff - i would also recommend installing windows 10 therfore, just to see if something improves. also what kind of ram? is it on the QVL?
3 standard SATA WD red drives plus a SATA WD Red 2TB SSD. No RAID setup. QVL RAM, XMP profiles, tested with Mem86. The main issue appears when launching “This PC.” I’m looking for alternatives since I’ve already installed and configured a lot. Initially, a strange, locked drive showed up before the C drive, possibly a recovery partition or something from Windows 11. It disappeared after installation, and the problem existed at that time too.
I might be mistaken, but I recall seeing something similar before—a thread discussing how excessive RAM can lead to instability. Could someone with more experience confirm or refute this?
MemTest86 isn't perfect at detecting memory errors. There's been plenty of memory setups I've seen that pass that but fail Y-Cruncher VT3 or TestMem5 1usmus_v3. That frequency is high enough that it won't work out of the box on a decent chunk of CPUs, so there's a decent chance you got unlucky and this kit won't work at that frequency. Also quote so we get a notification.
