Hey, I've got a Samsung 860 EVO 1TB SSD that's only showing 380 R/W. It should be running at 500, but I can't find a way in the BIOS to boost it. This happened after I swapped my SSD and unplugged it, then plugged it back in with the Ryzen 5 2600 ASRock B450M PRO 4. I'm using an ASUS RTX2060, a 6GB SSD, a Seagate HDD, and a Corrsair TX550M PSU. Everything seems set up but not working as expected.

It seems you're facing a performance issue. Based on the GPU, you might not have sufficient PCIe lanes for the SSD to operate at optimal speed. Since your SSD uses SATA, consider sharing your complete PC specifications, operating system, and the number of additional drives. Depending on your GPU, using an M.2 drive could be more efficient if your motherboard supports it.

It's quite full. It was reduced before the last time.

Remaining space is 68GB, and I've removed most of my games from it.

Maintain SSDs with a minimum of 10% available space. 20-25% is ideal for speed. A 1TB drive at 68GB seems excessively occupied.

I strongly suggest investing in an NVMe M.2 storage solution. Your system is compatible, so a Samsung 970 should perform excellently. I don’t know your budget constraints, but a 2TB 970 Evo Plus is currently available on Amazon for $199 (a $300 discount), and you should avoid the 980 model since it lacks PCIe 4 support. After installing the new drive, you can clone your data using Macrium Reflect at no cost. Once set up as the boot drive, format the 860 partition and reinstall your games there. You can also create a separate Steam Library on it for your less-played titles. Overall, your system will benefit significantly from the faster NVMe PCIe performance compared to traditional SATA connections.

For better results, ensure you have at least 100GB free on a 1TB SSD. Insufficient space reduces performance and shortens drive lifespan. Consider relocating folders like Downloads to another drive. Follow these steps: https://rejzor.wordpress.com/2013/08/09/...ree-space/ Then proceed with https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/wind...00c4ec702a

I was considering an M.2 drive but the 2TB model on Amazon costs $350, which is out of my reach right now.

I thought you were using USD, didn’t grasp NZD for you, sorry. Try CamelCamelCamel to set up a price watch on the item and receive an email when it drops to a level you can afford. Everything else remains unchanged. The wrong link was https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-970-EVO-P...B07MFZXR1B. That’s the correct product—if you can’t buy it now, add it to your wishlist for future consideration. Follow the cleanup steps others suggest; it’ll likely improve when you have a better deal, possibly during Prime day, but it’s usually near its lowest price (was a few dollars cheaper on 4/1 most of the time).
