For those unfamiliar, Valve hires translation services for Steam and other companies through a volunteer platform known as STS or Steam Translation Service. In a Reddit discussion, a former Spanish team moderator criticized a Valve representative linked to the platform. The ex-mod explained that some translators were paid for their work based on high rankings in a level system. After raising concerns about one translator abusing the system, another moderator was removed without clear justification—specifically because he had been working on upgrades for STS and a Valve employee would have faced illegal termination if he supported the team's stance. Eventually, the entire team was suspended after they reached out to Valve HR seeking clarification on these events.
In another thread, an Italian team member recounted a comparable situation involving the same Valve employee responsible for STS. Meanwhile, a Romanian moderator offered a contrasting perspective. Overall, there’s limited concrete evidence supporting any of their claims, yet everyone agrees they have their own version of the story. The main point remains: they’re confident in their accounts, but the unlawful firing accusation carries significant weight.
