The Skyrim Anniversary Edition isn't functioning properly.
I chose to purchase the Skyrim Anniversary Edition upgrade on Steam. Besides the CC content, you receive a fresh gold Dragon logo on the title screen. The issue is that all the content is delivered as separate mods, leading to similar problems like installing numerous mods and an increasingly unstable game. Not just that, they’ve re-released the game for the seventh time, making it even more unstable and broken than before.
It might work, but the tool would need to handle combining various mods in the same way the game does. This often leads to similar conflicts when multiple mods target the same areas. Cleaning up the merge usually requires some manual adjustments. Nexus offers a "mod" feature, though it hasn't been refreshed since late 2016.
I received only the update, which reduced stability but resolved a significant issue SE had addressed. Before this patch, I installed more than 250 mods. One was disabled because it needed an update to the new SKSE version, and another clashed with survival mode. The fishing mod was likely the culprit for crashes, as it conflicts with other mods. The fix improved the indoor NPC limit, allowing hundreds of Draugr or Falmer to stay grounded instead of drifting upward. This change isn’t available in SE but is possible with LE. Mixing mods often leads to complications, especially with game-changing ones. Follower mods and clothing/armor mods worked well before ESL became popular. Most conflicts arise from complexity—for instance, Ordinator and Skyrim Immersive Creatures run smoothly together but cause crashes with each other once perks are applied. Perks that add items to the level list can also cause problems, as a randomly generated mage might summon an enemy using a weapon that triggers a crash unless reloaded. Weapons added via DLCs differ from vanilla ones, and enemies introduced by mods can cause instability. Skyrim sometimes crashes on its own, even without specific mods.
